What a year 2024 has been. Looking back...
Hello sisters, dear friends, and my treasured supporters,
It’s been a while since I’ve written, and I truly hope this year has treated you kindly.
2024 was monumental for me because of the release of Behind The Looking Glass—a documentary that breaks new ground in exploring a deeply personal and often overlooked aspect of life: the impact of transgender experiences on relationships. This is a subject that has rarely received mainstream attention or sympathy, and I’m proud to bring it into the light. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can find it on YouTube, with subtitles in 10 languages, or on X, if that’s where you prefer to watch.
As promised, I’ve also been sharing individual stories from the courageous women featured in our film. So far, three of these stories are available, and the fourth will be released at the end of this month. These women have shown extraordinary strength in sharing their painful truths with the world, even as mainstream media remains largely indifferent to amplifying their voices. Speaking of media, we’ve managed to spread the word about Behind The Looking Glass through podcasts, webinars, and a few written reviews. I’d love for you to explore some of them:

- Reality Check Radio (New Zealand): Link
- Woman’s Hour: The TERF Report with Kara Dansky (USA): Link
There are more than 15 interviews lined up for release over the coming months, which means the scope of this project has grown far beyond the three years it took to create the film. With your support, I can continue producing these videos and keep this vital conversation going for another two years. If you feel moved to help this holiday season, please consider supporting me as an independent filmmaker. Whether it’s buying me a coffee, becoming a member, making a one-time donation through PayPal, or setting up a small monthly contribution—every bit helps, and I appreciate it more than words can express.
Looking ahead to 2025:
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been invited to speak at the 6th annual Brisbane Women’s Liberation Conference, Fired Up! Our film will also screen in multiple cities, and I can’t wait to meet as many of you as possible. If all goes well, there will be more international screenings that I’ll have the privilege of attending in person.
A quick shoutout to WRN:
Thanks to the amazing women of the Women’s Rights Network, Behind The Looking Glass had screenings in Glasgow, Belfast, London, and Oxford, along with several home screenings where friends gathered to watch and discuss together. A heavy watch, I know—but isn’t it better to process challenging topics with the people you trust? I’m endlessly grateful to WRN for championing this work.
Big news on the international front:
Earlier this year, I was contacted by Svet, a newly launched documentary TV channel. I’m so proud to share that Behind The Looking Glass has earned its first major recognition in the world of film and TV! Starting this January, the documentary will stream in Slovak and Czech regions across multiple platforms—OTT, TV, AVOD, SVOD, FVOD, and mobile—for three years. It’s a huge milestone for the project, and I couldn’t be happier to see these stories reaching even more people. Here’s a trailer:
What’s next?
I’ve been making films for over a decade now, and I’d be delighted to create videos for you or your organisation. Since my work is deeply rooted in radical feminism, I find it difficult to collaborate with woke media or groups—so if you’re a feminist looking for a beautifully crafted video highlighting your achievements, showcasing your organisation, or telling your story in any audiovisual form, let’s talk! Here’s a little showreel of my work.
Many of you have asked what my next film will be about. Honestly, I don’t know yet! I’d love to explore anthological fiction films centered on women, but I believe the right story will find me when the time is right. Rest assured, the moment I know, I’ll be sure to let you know too—either here or on X and Instagram, where you might catch glimpses of what’s brewing.
For now, I wish you a warm, joyful holiday season and an amazing start to 2025. Let’s stay connected—I have so much more in store to share with you!
With gratitude,
Vaishnavi Sundar

Thank you Vaishnavi, for all that you do. Amidst the liberal and right-wing misogynistic propaganda online and offline, you are one of the few creators with integrity that everyone can look upto. I hope you take good care of yourself after putting yourself in the crossroads frequently.
Thank you for your kind words and support 🙂
