India has completely embraced the trans dogma, and all sections of the society have understood the lucrative nature of this ideology

A couple of weeks ago, I agonised over how India has amped its efforts to champion ‘gender identity’ policies while much of the rest of the world is beginning to tread with caution. Today, I am writing to you with more bad news. With apparently no structured way of challenging the rise of this ideology in India, I’m fearful of the protracted ramifications it is about to have on women and children.

In October 2021, a petition filed by a lesbian couple was brought to the attention of Justice V Anand Venkatesh, seeking protection from police harassment and their families. Responding to it with immediate effect, Justice Venkatesh laid down several policies in order to minimise the damage same-sex attracted couples might face at the hands of the police. Policies include the closing of missing persons reports filed by parents accusing partners of kidnapping daughters, and to sensitise the police to handle such cases with due regard, etc. The Justice himself underwent what he called a ‘psycho-education’ in order to undo his preconceived notions about same-sex relationships. “I strongly feel that the change must take place at a societal level and when it is complemented by a law there will be a remarkable change in the outlook of the society by recognising same-sex relationships,” Venkatesh said in his judgement, according to Live Law.

Unfortunately for same-sex attracted Indians, Justice Venkatesh sought his ‘education’ on homosexuality not just from a psychologist, but (get this!) a trans-identifying man. In his order, Venkatesh referred to the petitioners, the psychologist, and Gummaraju (the TiM), as his ‘gurus’ (teachers), for “pulling him out of darkness.”

Medical textbooks:

Gummaraju previously lobbied the authorities to revise medical textbooks to exclude supposedly ‘unscientific information about LGBTQIA+’ and succeeded. There is no doubt that glorifying obsolete, inhumane practises like lobotomy, calling lesbians perpetrators of crime or “deranged” are beyond contemptible. But based on the report to the Madras High Court  by the National Medical Commission, there are several dangerous changes being made too.

  • Sexual perversions such as fetishism, voyeurism, sadism, necrophagia, masochism, exhibitionism, frotteurism, necrophilia will no longer be treated as such. Instead, the modified syllabus will aim discuss it “in the context of informed consent during any sexual interaction.”
  • Sexual dimorphism will be replaced with several unscientific word salads such as: Demonstrate an understanding of the difference between sex and gender/ biological and social construction of personhood; Demonstrate an understanding of gender identity; Demonstrate an understanding of transgender, gender non-conformity, and other gender diverse identities; Demonstrate an understanding of sexual/sexuality identity, sexual orientation, sexual desire; Demonstrate an understanding of the wide variety of sexual orientations and desires; Describe and demonstrate an understanding of the differences in sex development in individuals who don’t fit into the biological binary of male or female; Demonstrate an understanding of common myths and misconceptions about LGBTQIA + identities like Hijra, Intersex; Demonstrate an attitude of openness and respect for all genders and sexualities; Demonstrate an understanding of common psychosocial stressors faced by members of LGBTQIA+ communities in India; Demonstrate Knowledge about basic tenets of LGBTQIA+ affirmative counselling.

What kind of doctors would this ideology, reeking of totalitarian, unscientific propaganda be creating? And how utterly sinister is it to introduce such fallacious concepts at the learning stage so as to mass produce ‘affirming doctors’ upon graduation! Is this what passes as progress?

The ‘Glossary’

A glossary of Tamil LGBTQIA+ terms has been published by the Tamil Nadu government upon Justice Venkatesh’s directive. It seems to have been put together by a group of ‘experts’, several of whom are trans-identified. The result is a train wreck, devoid of sanity. The News Minute, a media website, reports that the “glossary has been adapted from the LGBTQIA+ glossary created by TNM, Queer Chennai Chronicles, Orinam and several queer individuals.” Some of the definitions mentioned in the document are riddled with the usual tedious conflation of the terms ‘sex’ and ‘gender’. It also equates therapeutic interventions for ‘gender dysphoria’ with ‘conversion therapy’- ergo setting a dangerous precedent for using blockers, hormones and surgeries as the only pathway to ‘affirm’ someone claiming to be ‘trans’. And surprise! The glossary omits the term ‘detransitioner’.

Insurance:

In June, I reported on an organisation trying to provide ‘surgery grants’ for ‘sex reassignment surgeries’. According to their website, TALMS or Trans:Alms is a “charity foundation to help transgender people with monetary grants for transitional surgeries across the globe through personal and corporate funding.” In my report, I also referred to the Ayushman Bharat transgender health insurance scheme. Overseen by the Social Justice Ministry, the Ayushman Bharat Transgender health insurance scheme, (part of the ‘Support for Marginalised Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprises – SMILE’) provides a Rs 5 lakh coverage for Hormone Replacement Therapy, surgeries, and post-surgical care at government and empanelled private hospitals. While this has existed for a while, the media picked up an old news story and treated it as breaking news. Many states in India already provide free surgeries in government hospitals. Corporates too are offering insurance policies for ‘trans and nonbinary’ employees that cover a plethora of surgeries and considerable paid leave for recuperation. While same-sex attraction is seen as a taboo within families and society at large, aproviding such a composite solution for opting out of homosexuality is sadly appealing to many and regarded as progressive. The acceptable face of homophobia. It is probably why stories of lesbian women killing themselves due to forced heteroseuxality gets drowned in the raucous, obscene championing of ‘trans lesbians’. That the Modi government is trying to flex its vote bank agenda for its third consecutive fascist regime by offering ‘schemes’ to satiate the woke crowd would be an understatement. Yet, the reality of the lives of young women and homosexuals are far from being acknowledged, let alone understood and empathised with.

IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation):

Dr. Arun Muthuvel – who calls himself “IVF/ICSI King with highest ICSI embryology experience” – claims to be responsible for making Chennai City the IVF capital of India. Dr. Muthuvel has filed a petition with the Supreme Court challenging various provisions set out by the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, the ART (Regulation) Rules, 2022, the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021, and the Surrogacy (Regulation) Rules, 2022. According to the petition, these legal policies don’t adequately aid in regulating surrogacy and other ‘assisted reproductive procedures’ and impose a “restive regime which dangerously impinges upon the most basic reproductive right of individuals.”

In short, the petition asks for almost all safeguarding be lifted from the previous Act and Rules. In claiming to be speaking for the ‘marginalised LGBT’ community, doctors like Muthuvel don’t just amp up their social capital, but also their economic capital. For someone who has had “5000+ IVF babies delivered,” it must be obvious even to an imbecile that motivation is not based on a social justice conscience. However, what is notable about Dr. Muthuvel, is that he is openly asking for all liabilities to be waived. “To declare the provisions of the ART act imposing severe penalties for medical professionals as unconstitutional,” reads his petition. Dr. Muthuvel isn’t entirely unique though, he is not the only doctor hankering to be unbridled by ethical considerations and due regulations. In May this year, I wrote about India’s very own Frankenstein, Narendra Kaushik – a plastic surgeon who has made worldwide headlines for stating his intent to transplant a uterus into a trans-identified male.

As of 2020, India has remained one of the biggest markets for surrogacy. The cost of procedures are estimated to be between $20,000 to $45,000 USD in India, as opposed to $60,000 to $100,000 in the US. The number of surrogacy births in India tripled between 2007 and 2009. According to Global Market Insights Inc, the global surrogacy market is expected to exceed USD 33.5 Billion by 2027. Such untethered growth of the market is inflamed further by exploitative doctors like Muthuvel, who, by claiming to ‘care’ for a certain section of the society, have their feet placed firmly on the throats of the unfortunate. In a patriarchal capitalist market that feeds on women’s bodies like this, there is very little wiggle room for women to speak, let alone be heard. So, the fundamental goal of any women’s rights movement should be to empower women to make healthy, safer decisions, rather than further disenfranchise them with the fallacy of ‘choice.’

Towards doom

India has completely embraced the trans dogma, and all sections of the society – cinema, academia, corporations, charities – have understood the lucrative nature of this ideology. As any cult does, by merely conceding to the cult chant of ‘trans women are women’ followers are love bombed with booming rewards. There is no critical thinking even within liberal circles where spirited intellectual discussions on social issues used to give me goosebumps. Now, I’d be lucky if I could hold my bile and vomit inside me. The Dravidian philosophy of ‘self respect’ has been entirely hijacked by the woke, wherein, the idea of self respect and dignity is not warranted when a woman demands it. Even small Indian towns sport posters and leaflets on ‘trans awareness’ and ‘trans flags’ where women don’t even have fully equipped toilets at home. There is no opposition to this ideology except from voices like mine that amount to whispers in a storm. But when bodies and lawsuits start piling, I hope my work stands tall in pointing out the colossal failure on our part as human beings.
